Think meditation is hard? Do me a favor, take a slow deep breath in and now breathe out. Congratulations, you just meditated. Hi, I’m Krystal Jakosky, and this is Breathe In, Breathe Out: a Weekly Mindfulness and Meditation podcast for anyone ready to own their own shit and find a little peace while doing it. Welcome back to Breathe In, Breathe Out. I’m Krystal Jakosky and hello. It's been a great day. It's been fabulous. I love being here. Chit chatting with you and just sharing my life and my inspirations. I hope that they help you as much as they help me. So that's what I'm gonna say about that. Did you know you have four bodies? I know you have your one physical body. There is so much more that goes into who you are and how you react. You have your spiritual body, which is your connection to your higher power. You have your mental body, which are the thoughts that you're having in the way you process. You have your physical body, which is the body you experience the world with. And then you have your emotional body, which is literally your emotions and how you process what you're thinking and feeling. When you stop and think about it. Having four bodies actually makes things so much easier. It may sound difficult. It may sound like a really, I'm not so sure about that, but in reality, it makes them infinitely easier to understand. What's really going on for you at this moment, in this life. I'm gonna take a couple of examples for you so that you can understand what I'm talking about. Let's say that you've decided you really wanna go to the gym. You've recognized that physically you'd like to be a little bit stronger and that emotionally you're, you're languishing a little bit and maybe some working out would give you some endorphins and just help improve your mood. And so mentally you've decided this is what you're gonna do, and you're gonna physically, you're looking forward to the shifts and the changes. And emotionally, you're excited about that. And we'll come back to the spiritual aspect. So you go to the gym the first day and you're loving it because all of your bodies are in alignment. They are all excited about doing this about processing, about improving so many different states of being you're happy you do your workout. You come home, you're feeling great. Emotionally, you're pumped up physically. You're pumped up and mentally you feel really proud of yourself for having gone and done the exercises and building your strength and whatnot. Well, let's say now it's a couple of weeks down the road and you've been working out, but now you're a little bit achy because you overdid it a little bit, or you're not quite over the hump of building a habit and you're not really seeing the physical changes yet, cuz it's too early. So you're starting to waver a little bit and you decide that you're not gonna go to the gym because physically there are no changes emotionally. Yeah, it's fine. Whatever. You've forgotten how you felt emotionally, beforehand, and mentally it's, you know, it's there. It's whatever. I'm not really huge. So you don't go and maybe you skip one day and the next day you're just a little off and huh, I wonder what's up. And the next day you're a little off and you start berating yourself cuz I'm not going to the gym. And I kind of feel bad about it because I, I mean I did three weeks. It's okay. I can take some time off. So mentally you're justifying taking the time off, but you're still feeling a little bad that you didn't so emotionally you're feeling a little negative and you might be sliding a little bit into the, not necessarily depression, but you're not as great as you would be because you don't have those positive, um, chemicals going through your body and brain and physically, you're still pretty strong. You've only missed a couple of days. It's not like you lose muscle mass, that fact that fast. And yet you might know that you're just a little bit achy because you're no longer stretching. And so you might see some physical things and the way that you have to get over that hump and get back into alignment is what does your physical body need? What does your emotional body need and what does your mental body need? How can you bring those back into alignment and get back on track of going back to the gym that may be once again, mentally checking in emotionally and recognizing, you know, what, it's that exercise that really helped me feel better? And because of that mentally and emotionally, now you're in alignment saying, absolutely I wanna get back to the gym because I recognize that emotional gift. And it may be that mentally and physically, you have to check-in and you say, oof, you know, physically, I'm doing fine. I'm doing okay. And yet I know that I would feel a little bit better if I did this or that. I know I'd feel a little better if maybe I don't have to lift weights, but I could ride a bike or I could do some stretching, some yoga, and maybe I could do other things that would physically keep me limb and active. It doesn't have to be the intense stuff that I was doing because physically I'm not really thrilled with the intense stuff. So you make a compromise and you work it out so that you can still get that physical body happy. And your emotional body gets the benefits of having gone to the gym and, and boosting those endorphins, see how they can all come to an alignment. See how understanding what one body needs compared to the other body. You can work with them when you recognize that you have these four bodies, instead of thinking, that it's just one body. You're like, well, I wanna go to the gym, but I don't feel great when you can pinpoint why you don't want to go. When you can pinpoint and understand your needs, it totally shifts. It changes the way that you approach life. Because now there's more to it and you can directly deal with the issue that's out there. So personal story, cuz you know how much I love to tell stories. We're gonna take the example of a panic attack. We're gonna look at it and we're gonna analyze how that works with the four bodies. Someone is in a situation and they are being challenged by all of the input around them. Let's say they're a germophobe and they're in a public setting and they need to be in this public setting because they're learning a class or for whatever reason that they're there, they arrive and instantly their breathing starts to go. They, their hands start sweating. Their brain starts going through all of the issues that could happen and all of the ways that germs could come to them. So they physically react by sweating emotionally, they want to cry and they are panicked with the emotions and everything else that's going on with them. And they really don't know what to do and how to deal with what's going on with them on so many different levels. When you look at it as a whole body, you're just looking at, okay, yes, you're having a panic attack. How do I deal with this? And it's overwhelming to try to understand when you recognize that you have four bodies and you're having a panic attack, things shift mentally. What is going on in your brain? What thoughts are you having that are contributing to this panic attack? What are you mulling over? Do you have the ability to stop them? Number two, physically, what are the reactions? Your palms are sweaty. You might be sweating, sweating profusely from your underarms. You can't breathe very well. Your heart is racing. Think about all the physical body reactions that are going on. Think about the emotional reactions that are also coming in there. You might wanna cry. You might wanna scream. You might want whatever emotional body reactions are going on. When you look at it this way, oftentimes when all three of your bodies are freaking out, it's best to check in with your spiritual body. When you stop step out of yourself and tune into a higher power tune into the universe, tune into that spiritual gift and say, what do I need? You can get a better answer. Perhaps that means that you need to step to the side and do some slow breathing exercises. Perhaps you need to close your eyes and listen to some music because the music will calm your heart and slow that down. And if your heart is not racing so much, then mentally your brain can tune into the music as well. Now your hands aren't sweating, you're not sweating. Your heart's not racing and your emotions calm down because they're soothed by the music as well, Tuning into your higher power, which in effect is stepping out of this physical manifestation that you're having means that you are tuning in to a better instructional phase of how can I make things better? How can I improve this situation right here? And right now the spiritual body is the one that works and helps bring into alignment. All of the other bodies help ground you and help you find the path forward so that you can be and do where you need to be and what you need to be. The four bodies are beautiful. They are fantastic. They are amazing. Once you recognize that you have them and once you learn how to deal with them, it makes life so much easier. You can step back and say, okay, which of my bodies is upset and how do I deal with that? And how do I make life smoother at this moment? I have a whole course. That is absolutely fantastic. Has tons of guided meditations and journaling prompts to help you really understand this concept and learn self-care for each one of those individual bodies and how to bring them back together and work together individually. And as a whole, as a group, it's called intro to you and it is on a fantastic platform. I really encourage you if you're interested. And if you want to know more about your own four bodies check it out, go learn, go grow and find out how much better life can be when you tune into all four of them. Instead of looking at yourself as one overwhelming whole take care of yourselves, and I'll look forward to seeing you here next week on Breathe In, Breathe Out. I hope this moment of self-care and healing brought you some hope and peace. I’m @krystaljakosky on Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube and I hope you check us out and follow along for more content coming soon.
