Think meditation is hard? Do me a favor: take a slow, deep breath in and now breathe out. Congratulations! You just meditated. Hi, I’m Krystal Jakosky and this is Breathe In, Breathe Out: a Weekly Mindfulness and Meditation Podcast for anyone ready to own their own shit…and find a little peace while doing it.
Hello and welcome back to Breathe In, Breathe Out. I'm Krystal Jakosky. I'm just thrilled that you're here. I love doing these podcasts. I love spending this time together. I love just sharing my heart with you and just really appreciate the way that you accept it and take it in.
Two weeks ago, we talked about the boxes that we are raised in. We talked about how it's the beliefs and the values and the understandings of our parents and society around us and how that all contributes to this box that we ourselves take on and then choose to continue living within.
And then last week, we also talked about how our experiences in and of themselves contribute to those boxes. And those, those experiences are like familial experiences, divorce, trauma, food doesn't really matter what they were because each experience is so uniquely individual and independent. And we talked about my family and the different experiences there and how all of the different perspectives mean that each sibling deals with life differently today.
So today, right now, I would like to take you through a guided meditation on dealing with a box and deciding whether you want to keep it, alter it, remove it and move on. So as always, please do not do this in a moving vehicle. I hope that you find a location that is just delightfully comfortable, and allows you to relax, allows you to settle in. And where you won't be disturbed so that you can just enjoy and be very present in that moment.
So we're going to start by taking a nice deep breath in, all the way down into your belly, fill up every cavity and then breathe out.
Do it again. Breathe in so deep. Cleansing, relaxing before you exhale completely and fully. And just do that again. With each deep breath, you feel a little more relaxed. With each exhale you release the stress from the day, the week, the month.
You breathe in and then out sinking. So comfortable. The surface you're on just cradles you as you nestle right down in letting go of everything around and just focusing on the here and now. This moment, just for you.
On your next inhale. As you sink further and more relaxed, feel your heart beating The way it pulses in your chest. The way your chest sinks as you exhale, and sending with it, all of the weight you've been carrying.
And again. We're relaxed. On your next deep breath in, allow that sacred, safe space to materialize in your mind's eye. The space where you are protected and safe. The place where you get to be you.
Before you, in this space, a shape appears. This may be a box, maybe more like a shroud, or an orb. The shape itself, just let it be. This representative of a core value or belief that you have grown up with. One that you right now are debating on, how do you really feel? Maybe it spins just a little bit so that you can see that from every angle. You know what it represents.
And as you look and watch it, how does your heart react? Do you feel at peace with it in this space? Or is there an unease and frustration that it's here? Take a deep breath. Let it out.
There's a strand, like a string that goes from this box or this shape back to the power from which it come. The source that helped create this box, this expectation.
First thing we need to do is cut that cord. How do you want to do that? Are there golden scissors, machete? Maybe it's a flame that burns it? Remove the power. And now just look at it. By itself.
Is there something positive? Is there value and goodness, before you? Does it bring you joy? If this is something that you want to keep, that you want to continue living, and breathing, and putting out into the world. Then we're going to embrace it. Bring it into our hearts. And thank it for the lessons you've learned.
If this is on the other end. A shape that you do not feel connected with. And you would rather it go away. First off, let's get rid of the shape. Do you want to douse it in water? Does it go up in flames, is it like a firecracker and it just explodes. How would you like to get rid of that shape?
There is no more power going to it. We've cut that cord. We've removed that string. And now it's just this thing before you. Once you get rid of the shape, is there anything left? Was there anything hiding inside? Sometimes there's something inside and it's actually a gift. You see how that box was supporting and nurturing you while it also challenged you in life.
Are you able to see the gift for what it was? This little gem leftover? If you're able to accept it. If you’re able to accept it, feel free to bring it in, keep it with you. If you can't quite see the gift yet, feel free to put it on a shelf or put it in some special place right here. In your sacred, safe space so that you can come back to it.
The next time you come in, it will be there just waiting for you. You get to choose what values, what beliefs, what do you want to hold onto and create at your core. Take a moment and look at yourself in all of your beauty and all of your amazingness in this presence. This gift that you yourself are.
Look at all the good resides within you. Take a moment to just embrace with gratitude, how far you’ve come and how you get to keep creating and choosing. Letting go of those things, which hold us back and embracing those things that help us to be even better. More.
Allow yourself to glow. Wrap yourself up in this beautiful white light. This love and healing that only you can give yourself.
With your next deep breath in, start coming back to yourself. And your next breath, you feel the surface that's supporting you. The way your hands and feet are resting. Another deep breath. And you're more aware and alert of your surroundings and the space. With another deep breath, you wiggle your fingers and your toes, and you're more present, more alert.
And with your next deep breath. You open your eyes and look around feeling stronger and more vibrant. In this life that you get to live, the way that you get to create it however you want it to be. You get to choose how to live. I hope you have a fabulous day, and I look forward to seeing you here again on Breathe In, Breathe Out.
